Hagrama Mohilary was born on 1 March 1969 in Kokrajhar district, in the Bodoland region of Assam. He belongs to the Bodo community, one of the largest indigenous ethnic groups in Assam. He founded the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in 2005 and was elected its first president. He played key role in establishment of Bodoland Territorial Council on 10 February 2003. The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), self-governing body is a new name added to the provision of Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, in BTAD, Assam.
